Adding Shorts in Web Portal

Maybe you are putting together a highly anticipated shorts program, or maybe you just want to advertise a sponsor reel that will accompany an upcoming film. Either way, you can follow the steps below to learn how to program shorts and attach them to events from the convenience of any computer or smartphone:

1. Log in to Web Portal.

2. Click the Events tab. Then, click Shorts

3. Click the +ADD SHORT button at the top of the page.

4. A Short Add page will open. Enter in the short's Properties: 

  • Name (250 Character Limit)
  • Duration (In Minutes)
  • Include Until: The date when the short's page will disappear from web sales. If you do not enter a date after your event or festival ends, the short's information will prematurely leave your website.
  • Short Description (1000 Character Limit)

5. Scroll down to the Media section, where you can upload images and trailers. The ideal image size should be 1250 pixels wide by 500 pixels high at 72 dpi. You can also use image posters that are 500 pixels wide at 72 dpi. To upload your media content:

A. Click the +Add Media button.

     B. Select the Type of Media to upload. Image, YouTube, and Vimeo are the most commonly used Media.

     C. Add a Caption that will appear on the Image. This caption can also serve as Alt Text for accessibility purposes.

     D. For images, click the Upload Image button and select the image file from your computer.

     E. Click the Accept button once you have uploaded your image.

     F. When uploading a Video or Trailer, select the Media Type from the drop-down. Videos must be

either YouTube or Vimeo formats.

    G. Add a Caption that will appear as a title for the Trailer.

    H. Copy the YouTube or Vimeo link and add it to the Paste Trailer Link Here field.

    I. Click the Accept button once you have uploaded all videos/trailers.

    J. Repeat the process to add additional images or videos.

    K. You can reorder your images and trailers by clicking on the Move Up or Move Down buttons.

6. Once you have added all the media content, close the Media tab and scroll down to the Custom Properties tab.

7. Click Custom Properties to begin adding any additional content for your show. Custom Properties are where you can add specific information about your show (i.e. Rating, Release Year, Cast & Crew, etc.).

Note: If you do not have information for specific Custom Property fields, you can leave the category blank.

8. Once you have entered in all desired custom properties, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.

You can repeat this process to make a list of all the shorts you wish to use. 

9. Once you have created the shorts, you will need to nest them into a show or event (click here to learn how to build an Event or Show).

 

Attach a Short to a Show:

10. Once you have created your Show/Event, click the Event tab and select Shows or Events.

11. Click the Pencil/Edit button next to the Show where you would like to add the short(s).

12. A Show Edit page will open. Scroll down to the Included Shorts section.

13. If you wish to include the images and trailers that you added when building the short, check the box next to Include Media Elements. This will add the images and trailers to the carousel on the full-length show.

14. Next, click the Select Content To Include drop-down to browse among shorts and select the ones you wish to add to this Show.

15. Once you have added your shorts, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.

Now that your short setup is complete, patrons will be able to view all your shorts' images and trailers on one page and then click into a unique pages to learn more about each short in depth.
