At the Gables Cinema, we've implemented Google Analytics into our website via Google Tag Manager. The service has been helpful and insightful but unfortunately it's missing a key component: data from the Agile ticket website. While I know that Agile does support basic GA - and have implemented it - it's not been very helpful because I cannot add any event tracking (and therefore goal tracking) to pages on the prod3.agileticketing.com site.

It would be incredibly helpful if Agile could implement support for Google Tag Manager (which is just a simple snippet of code, just like Analytics). This would allow me to create specific tags and triggers on Agile pages all on my own, without actually adding anything other than the basic GTM tag to the site.

This might be an unusual request but being able to fully track analytics would be awesome!

  I just wanted to let you know that our upcoming update 6.12 contains an integration for Google Tag Manager and enhanced ecommerce support in Google Analytics.  You can review the information about this update here.

  Javier,

  It will not be as simple as how you just provide your Universal Analytics (UA) tracking id, but there is a pretty easy way to include the Google Tag Manager script into your ticketing pages.  This process can be followed for any third party javascript you want to include in your ticketing pages.

  1. Log into the Admin app.
  2. Open up the Web Folder.
  3. Click on the Entry Points option.
  4. Open up the Properties for the Entry Point Group you want to include the script on.
  5. Paste the script in the Footer box of the Mobile and Look and Feel tabs.

  

  

  We really like the options that Google Tag Manager provides.  I believe that we will integrate it into Agile in a similar manner as Universal Analytics at some point in the future.  For now this should get you set up to use the Google Tag Manager features within your ticketing pages.

  Thanks! That's pretty simple to do, actually. I'm glad you're looking into full-fledged integration down the line.

  Just a quick follow-up: is there anything else I need to do other than remove the Analytics tracking ID from the System Control section in Agile to fully purge it from the website? I want to make sure it's gone before adding the GTM tag because I don't want to risk one view counting as two.

  Javier,

  You are correct in that you need to remove the Analytics Tracking ID from your System Control settings to make sure Google Analytics does not double count page views.  That is all you should have to do to make sure this does not happen once you insert your Google Tag Manager scripts.

  I had a follow up to this conversation. I've been implementing some tags via Google Tag Manager to track when a user makes a transaction on the website. It's been working pretty well so far but I'm trying to make it even more accurate by implementing eCommerce tracking and am running up against a wall.

  The following script in the HTML of the OrderConfirmation page is key:

  I've passed some of the variables Agile declares to a custom dataLayer script I've included in the web entry point, which I've copied below for your reference (all in compliance with Google documentation):

  Unfortunately, full use of eCommerce tracking requires unique product information, namely a name, SKU, price, and quantity. If Agile could supply that information - in the same way that it does with vOrderTotal or vOrderNumber - I could fully utilize eCommerce tracking.

  I figure you might have this on your docket in some capacity. This would be incredibly helpful not only for myself but other organizations who utilize Google Analytics to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Obviously, there are a ton of great reports that Agile provides but being able to see it through an analytics platform really opens up what we - and hopefully others - can do with your platform by seeing the steps users take when making a purchase.
