Connecting a TSYS PAX Pin Pad Device

  1. Connect the device to Ethernet and Power.
  2. If your organization uses a Managed Network, send a message to your Network Admin asking them to make a reservation on the network for each PAX Device and to send you the IP Address for each device as well as the Device ID/Name that is listed in the DHCP. Otherwise, open the management interface for your Router and set up a Reservation for the devices there. Remember to still notate the Device ID/Name.
  3. Next, Open and login to Agile Administration.
  4. Go to your house and expand the Accounting Folder.
  5. Go to the Merchant Node. At this time, find the VARS Sheet the TSYS provided you as you will need it for the rest of this setup.
  6. Right-click in the right-hand window, hover over "New," and then in the pop-up menu select "Vital/TSYS."
  7. In the new window, you will set up a new merchant. Name the Merchant "ORG NAME Vital/TSYS PAX".
  8. If you already have an E-Commerce Vital/TSYS account, you can use the same Bank ID from it in the Bank ID box here.
    1. Otherwise, there should be a BIN Number on your VARS sheet. Use that number to fill in the box.
  9. Use the VARS sheet to fill in the rest of the boxes. You are required to fill in:
    1. Merchant Number
    2. Merchant Service Phone Number
    3. Merchant State
    4. Store Number
    5. Terminal Number
    6. Time Zone
    7. Zip Code
    8. Terminal ID
    9. Category Code
    10. Country Code
    11. Currency Code
    12. Industry Code
    13. Language Code
    14. Agent Bank Number
    15. Agent Chain Number
    16. Merchant Location Number
  10. Check the Card Present Box and the Retail Terminal Required Box.
  11. Hit Apply
  12. A new Tab will have appeared, it will be called "Terminals". Click on this tab.
  13. In the new tab right-click in the top blank window and hit "New"
    1. Make sure the Connection Type drop-down menu is set to TCP
    2. The TCP IP is the IP Address you or your Network Admin. Set the reservation up for the device on your network.
    3. The TCP Port is 10009.
    4. Hit Apply and Ok
    5. Repeat for all other PAX Terminals
  14. Next, go to the Location node located in the top-level settings folder. Find the Location with the same name as the Organization and then locate the terminal in the bottom window.
  15. Right-click on the terminal, and hit properties.
  16. In the Terminal Properties window go to the tab labeled, CC Terminal.
  17. Checkmark the Merchant EMV Terminal box
  18. Select the PAX device from the drop-down menu that the Terminal will be using.
  19. If you do not want your Box Office personnel entering any Credit Card info into Agile manually, you can check the Credit Card Entry Restricted box.
  20. Hit Apply and Ok.
    1. Repeat for all other Terminals with PAX devices
  21. Go to your Payment Methods Node, located under the house in the Accounting folder.
  22. Here we will need to switch the Card Present Merchant Types to the TSYS merchant for all the AMS credit card Payment methods.
    1. Right-click on the payment method and hit properties.
    2. Locate the Card Holder Present drop-downs. Choose the TSYS option from the drop-down.
  23. Hit Apply and Ok.
  24. Switch to Sales.
  25. At the top of the screen hit the PIN PAD/PAX menu and select INIT:
    1. When you hit INIT it is normal for the system to pause while attempting to connect to the device. DO NOT try to close the program, this is normal.
    2. Watch the device to see when the Init function has finished and then you will be able to continue using the application.
  26. Run a test transaction to verify everything is working.

Addendum:

  • NFC/Apple Pay/Google Pay/Chip Reader/etc. usage depends on the settings TSYS has on the backend. If a client wishes to use these functions, they need to contact TSYS.
  • If you are getting a CONNECT ERROR while trying to Init go into the Menu and navigate to the Communication button. Select that and go to the ECR Comm Type. Make sure that 4. Ethernet -> 10009 -> TCP/IP are set as the options. If you still have an issue contact your Support Agent
