HP Elite Pad Point of Sale System Assemble Instructions

  1. Unpack all equipment and make sure you have everything you need. (Note: Printers, cash drawer, scanners, etc., are options you may not have purchased. Compare the equipment received with your Agile sales order or contract.)
NOTE: No tools are needed for assembly, but you will need to provide a power source, power strip, and an Ethernet cable to provide Internet access. If the tablet is being used without the docking station, then you need to provide wireless Internet.

  2. Place the cash drawer in the location where the Point of Sale system is to be used. The power and serial cable should be positioned to the rear of the cash drawer.

  3. Place the HP Elite Pad Expansion Dock on top of the cash drawer.

  4. Place the printers, USB scanner, keyboard, and mouse near the position where they will sit when the system is fully assembled. Route the USB and serial cables to the rear of the docking station.

  5. The Star printer and cash drawer will only function if they are plugged into the correct ports. The Star printer must be plugged into the lower USB port next to the power cable. The cash drawer must be plugged into the top left serial port. Use the image below as a guide.
  6. Connect all USB and serial cables into the back of the HP docking station. Though only the cash drawer and Star printer have to be connected to a particular port, it is recommended to plug both the ticket and receipt printers into the left two USB ports as shown in the picture above. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB port below the network connector. Plug any other USB items into the blue USB connectors along the bottom.

  7. Connect power cables to a power strip and connect the power strip to an electrical outlet. If the power strip has a switch, make sure it is switched to the ON position.

  8. Connect the HP docking station cover (below right) to the rear of the docking stations (below left).

NOTE: If space is limited, this would be a good time to tie-wrap, coil, or route cables so they look neater.

  9. Raise the docking station's arm about halfway up. Tilt the upper, smaller section (tablet cradle) of the docking station arm up and forward. The picture below shows the docking station arm raised.

NOTE: For the docking station arm to be lowered, the release mechanism must be pulled forward to disengage the lock. Forcing the arm down without using the release mechanism will break the arm.

  10. Connect the HP tablet to the docking station as described below.NOTE: The Pins on the docking station and the matching holes in the bottom of the tablet. The pins and holes must match up when docking the tablet.

The tablet unlock switch must be all the way to the right.

Loosen the hand strap so that it can easily slide over the tablet cradle when attaching the tablet to the docking station.

When the tablet makes a good connection with the tablet cradle on the docking station, the tablet unlock switch will snap to the right.

Give a slight pull on the tablet to make sure it is firmly connected to the docking station.

  11. Turn on the HP tablet by pressing the power switch for a few seconds. When the tablet is connected to the docking station, it may automatically turn on.

  12. Power on all equipment. The devices should resemble the picture below.
